Ahmedabad University Initiative:
Since 2016, FIRST Robotics Gujarat has been organizing a free FIRST Lego League robotics program at Ahmedabad University, open to students aged 9-16 from all Ahmedabad schools (participants have hailed from Shardamandir, AIS, Udgam, Prakash HS, and more). Over just the last year our specially-trained volunteer coaches (Ahmedabad University engineering students) have trained dozens of students, in not just in the mechanical engineering and programming of FLL, but also in collaborative innovation, entrepreneurial teamwork, and gracious professionalism. We are currently accepting applications for students to join our program, and consequently form FLL robotics teams.

Expansion to In-School Programs (Launching Fall 2018):
FIRST Robotics Gujarat is establishing a program in collaboration with AG Teachers High School to train 300 students in FIRST Lego League robotics. FIRST Robotics Gujarat is donating the initial robotics equipment, and helping to plan the overall robotics equipment purchases, using funding provided by India’s Central Government under the Tinkering Lab program. FIRST Robotics Gujarat has also agreed to provide the curriculum (similar to the tried-and-true curriculum used at Ahmedabad University) and train AG faculty to deliver it. The volunteer coaches from Ahmedabad University will provide further help to teach these 300 students. At AG and all other schools involved, robotics will be encouraged as a standard extra-curricular activity. Participation in the program will be selective, based on students’ demonstrated interest and math/science track record.
